Aralig Okhchu was a village in the territory of the Zangezur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Gafan district, and present-day Syunik province. It was located at the confluence of the Okhchu and Piravdan Rivers and near the village of Okhchu.
The village was inhabited by 148 Azerbaijanis in 1897. As a result of aggression by Armenian armed units, the Azerbaijanis were displaced in 1905–1906. Later, the village was abolished. The village was named “Aralig Okhchu” which means “a village in-between the Okhchu River”, because it was built between two rivers (the Okhchu and the Pirdavdan).
The first element of the toponym means “in-between two places”, the second one is a Turkic ethnonym “Okhchu”.
