Aligirig is a river in the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Garanlig (Martuni) district, and currently in the Gegharkunik province. The name of the river was noted as “Aligirikh” in Armenian sources. The river flows through the village of Aghirag (Astghadzor) into Goycha (Sevan). Its length is 22 km.
The hydronym was coined by combining the personal name “Ali” and the Turkic ethnonym “Girig”.
