Alibeyli is a village in the Echmiadzin uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Uchkilsa (Echmiadzin, Vagharshapat) district, and currently in the Armavir province. The provincial centre lies 2 km to the southwest of the settlement of Uchkilsa. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.
The original inhabitants of the village were Azerbaijanis. The village was initially inhabited by Azerbaijanis who left it after Armenians had been settled in the region. Armenians were removed there from the Turkish province of Van.
The toponym was coined on the basis of the ethnonym “Əlibəyli” of the great Yoruk tribe of the Oghuz.
The village was renamed “Atarbekyan” by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR dated 4 April 1946. According to the law “On the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia” dated 7 November 1995, it was integrated into the administrative area of the Armavir province.
