Aghilli was a summer pasture located in the territory of the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Chambarak (Krasnoselsk) district, and present-day Gegharkunik province during the summer months. It was located to the northeast of the village of Tokhluja.
The toponym was coined by adding the suffix “-lı” to the word “aghil” used in the sense of “a livestock pen, cattle pen” in Azerbaijani.
