Aghdamlar

Aghdamlar was a village in the territory of the Iravan uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Gamarli (Artashat) district, and present-day Ararat province. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.

The village was inhabited by 39 Azerbaijanis in 1897. The Azerbaijanis were deported as a result of Armenian aggression in 1905–1906 and the village was abolished.

The toponym was coined by combining the words “agh” meaning “the white colour” and “dam” meaning “a house, a wall” followed by the plural ending “-lar”.
