Abbasgolu was a village in the territory of the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, in the former Kavar (Yeni Bayazid, Kamo) district, and present-day Gegharkunik province. It was located to the northwest of Lake Goycha, 12- 13 km to the southeast of the present town of Sevan, and on the shore of a small mountainous lake surrounded by slopes on three sides. It was noted as “Jamalgol” in “The Iravan Province Review Book” compiled in 1728.

The village was destroyed during the Russo-Iranian war in 1826–1828. In the middle of 19th century, the original inhabitants of the village reconstructed it. The village of Abbasgolu was inhabited by 670 Azerbaijanis in 1897. The Azerbaijanis were attacked, massacred or expelled from the village by Armenian armed units in 1918. The few inhabitants who scarcely survived the massacre moved to the village of Meydanjig of the Kars province and closely settled there. At present, the village lies in ruins.
