Garatorpag

Garatorpag was a village in the territory of the Gazakh uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Karvansara (Ijevan) district, and present-day Tavush province. It was located between the town of Dilijan and the village of Golkend/Aygut. The village was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.

The village was initially inhabited by Azerbaijanis who gradually left it after the Armenian settlement in the region. The village was inhabited by 23 Azerbaijanis in 1926. The village was abolished in the 1930s. At present, it lies in ruins.

The toponym was coined by combining the words “gara” meaning “fertile, qualitative, productive” and “torpag”.
