Galakh is a village in the Zangezur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, in the former Gorus district, and currently in the Syunik province, at a height of 1,550 m above sea level. It is located adjacent to the previously existing village of Bayandur II in the territory of the province. Following the establishment of the Zangezur uezd in Soviet Armenia on 31 August 1921, the settlement was integrated into the administrative territory of Armenia.

The village was originally inhabited by Azerbaijanis, and following the settlement of Armenians in the region according to the Treaty of Turkmenchay (1828), the population gradually left the village. In their works Armenian authors mention the “Galakh” village as an ancient name of the village Bayandur II.

The toponym was coined on the basis of the Azerbaijani word “galakh”, which implies “plenty, mass”.

Currently, the village is called “Vaghatur”. According to the law “On the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia” dated 7 November 1995, the village was integrated into the administrative territory of the Syunik province.
