Akarli or Hakarli was a village in the territory of the Zangezur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Gorus district, and currently in the Syunik province.
The village was inhabited by 170 Azerbaijanis in 1886 and 253 in 1905. The Azerbaijanis were attacked, massacred or ousted from the village by Armenian armed formations in 1918. Later, the village was abolished. At present, the village is ruined.
The toponym was coined by adding the identifying suffix “–li” to the name of the Turkic tribe “Akar” meaning “the village of the Akar tribe.”
