Ayrisubat was a village in the territory of the Echmiadzin uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Gurdugulu (Hoktemberyan) district, and present-day Armavir province. Another name for the village was “Ayrisifaf. The village was abolished in 1940. At present, it lies in ruins.
The toponym was coined from the words “ayri”, meaning “crooked, separated” and “suvat” meaning “a place where the cattle drink water”, “the part of a river or lake where animals drink water or people get water”.
