Ashaghi Armik was a village in the territory of the Iravan uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Vedi (Ararat) district, and present-day Ararat province. It was located on the lower reach of the Vedi River. The name of the village was noted as “Armuk” in “The Iravan Province Review Book” and marked as “Armik” on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.

The village was inhabited by 312 Azerbaijanis in 1877, 192 in 1897 and 156 Azerbaijanis in 1906. The Azerbaijanis were massacred or displaced from the village by Armenian armed formations in 1918. After the establishment of Soviet power in present-day Armenia, the Azerbaijanis who survived were able to return to the village. The village was inhabuted by 21 Azerbaijanis in 1926. In accordance with the decision of the USSR Council of Ministers “On the resettlement of collective farmers and other Azerbaijani population from the Armenian SSR to the Kur-Araz lowlands of the Azerbaijan SSR” dated 23 December 1947, the Azerbaijanis were forcibly deported to Azerbaijan.

The village was abolished in 1949. At present, the village is in ruins.
