And or Hand was a village in the territory of the Iravan uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Vedi (Ararat) district, and present-day Ararat province. The village was located near the Khosrov River, the right tributary of the Vedi River. The village was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus It was integrated into the former Garabaghlar district from 1937 to 1948. The name of the village was recorded as “Hand” in Armenian sources.

The village was inhabited by 106 Azerbaijanis in 1873, 158 in 1886, 201 in 1897, 173 in 1904, 297 in 1914 and 241 Azerbaijanis in 1916. The Azerbaijanis were brutally ousted from the village by Armenian armed formations in 1918–1919. After the establishment of Soviet power in present-day Armenia, the Azerbaijanis who survived managed to return to the village. The village was inhabited by 47 Azerbaijanis in 1922, 63 in 1926 and 73 Azerbaijanis in 1931. In accordance with the decision of the USSR Council of Ministers “On the resettlement of collective farmers and other Azerbaijani population from the Armenian SSR to the Kur-Araz lowlands of the Azerbaijan SSR” dated 23 December 1947, the Azerbaijanis were forcibly deported to Azerbaijan, and the village was abolished. At present, the village is in ruins.

The toponym was coined on the basis of the word “hand” which means “surroundings; field” in Azerbaijani.
