Aghtepe was a village in the territory of the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Chambarak (Krasnoselsk) district, and present-day Gegharkunik province. It was located near the village of Shorcha.
The village was solely inhabited by Azerbaijanis: 129 in 1831 and 16 in 1926. In the mid-20th century the Azerbaijanis were deported and the village was abolished. At present, the village lies in ruins.
The toponym was coined by combining the word “agh” meaning “low, small” and the oronym “tepe” meaning “a hill”. The settlement was called “Aghtepe” being located on a low hill.
