Kolagiran is a village in the Borchali uezd of the former Tiflis governorate, later in the former Boyuk Garakilsa (Gugark) district, and currently in the Lori province. The provincial centre lies 27 km to the northeast of the town of Vanadzor (Boyuk Garakilsa), at a height of 1,300 m above sea level. Armenian sources indicate that the village was founded in 1870.
The walls of the ancient fortress associated with the Azerbaijanis and the ruins of the cemetery still remain in the village. Following the settlement of Armenians in the village, the Azerbaijani population gradually left their lands.
The toponym was coined on the basis of the ethnonym “Kolagiran” engaged in cattle breeding. This proves the village to be founded not in 1870, but much earlier. Thus, the Kolagiran tribe is one of the tribes living in Karabakh in the 16th century. It is an ethnotoponym.
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR dated 10 September 1948, the village was renamed “Antaramut”. According to the law “On the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia” dated 7 November 1995, it was integrated into the administrative area of the Lori province.
