Ayghir is a lake in the Echmiadzin uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Uchkilsa (Echmiadzin) district, and currently in the Armavir province. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus. The area the lake covers is 60 ha and its volume is 310,000 m³.
The hydronym was coined by combining the words “ayghir” meaning in Turkic “a male horse, a stallion” and “gol.
