Guneypaya

Guneypaya was a winter pasture located in the territory of the Gazakh uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Karvansara (Ijevan) district, in the territory of the village of Haggikhli (Hovk) of the present Tavush province. It was dissolved in the 1930s.

The toponym was coined by combining the word “guney” used in the sense of “a place where the sun falls, south” and the word “paya” used to mean “a stable, stall”.
