“I am from the village of Shirazli, Vedi district. Armenians gathered at the gas station in our village in the evening. There were maybe more than a hundred cars. At least 5-6 people were in each car. They were hesitent to enter the village. In the village, only uncle Abish and I had a firearm (a double-barreled rifle). I wanted to blow up firecracker, uncle Abish did not allow. However, I blew up the firecracker and the Armenians retreated. Later, we went to the Aras hill and took turns to protect our village. Their goal was to scare us and drive us out of our ancestral lands. Later, with the support of the government, they started brutally killing people. That time, we could not exchange our houses for a real price. All our cattle and cars remained in our village, we could not bring them. When we left the village, we went to Nakhchivan for the first time. In Nakhchivan, we began to suffer financially because the living conditions were harsh. In Nakhchivan, for 4 years, 4 families lived in one room. After Nakhchivan, we came to Mushkul village of Khachmaz district. In Khachmaz we lived in the village club for a while. We came to Khachmaz because there were relatives who came and lived in Khachmaz earlier. My brother and uncles came in the 1960s. When we were living in Armenia, Azerbaijani students were hardworking. However, despite this, jobs were not available, not a single Azerbaijanis were allowed to  work in higher positions. The ancient tombstones in our cemetery were being destroyed every passing day and their numbers were decreasing. Armenians came to our lands later and they were in small numbers. When they first arrived, many Armenians were ready to live anywhere because they were homeless. Later, the state supported them and their numbers started to increase suddenly. They made us sign a paper for the transfer of Karabakh to Armenians. In return, they offered funds and food. In Orta Mehelle, at night a Volga car was distributing firearms to Armenians.”
