Damirchilar

Damirchilar was a village in the Sharur-Daralayaz uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Pashali (Azizbeyov, Vayk) district, and present-day Vayots Dzor province. It was located near Buzkhana Mountain. The name of the village was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.

The village was solely inhabited by Azerbaijanis: 82 in 1873, 68 in 1886, 90 in 1897, 96 in 1904, 96 in 1914 and 133 Azerbaijanis in 1916. The Azerbaijanis were attacked, massacred or ousted from the village by Armenian armed units in 1918. Later, the village was abolished. At present, it is in ruins.

The toponym was coined from the name of the Turkic Damirchilar tribe.
