The Ovshar or Afshar caravanserai dates back to the 16th-18th centuries. On the first floor of the caravanserai there were kitchens and utility rooms, workshops and storerooms. Yards were mostly rectangular in shape. The entrance to the second floor of the caravanserai was from the stairs on the sides of the courtyard.
Currently, an indoor market was built on the site of the caravanserai (on Mesrop Mashtots avenue).
