The Red Bridge, the oldest bridge in Iravan, was built in 1679 over the Zangi River. At that time, this bridge, which was the only passage to the city over the Zangi River, got its name from the red stone that it was made of. It was of great importance for the history of the city because it passed through the ancient Silk Road. Sometimes the bridge is called Zangi Bridge because it is built over the Zangi River.
The total length of the red bridge was 80 m, its height was 11 m, and its width was 4.8 m. With two arches, this bridge also had a small auxiliary arch to provide additional two-way flow. After the construction of the Great Victory Bridge, the Red Bridge was not used and this historical monument fell apart.
